Join programmer Kat Whatley this Sunday on “Jazz Profiles” (2-7pm) for an in depth look at the Creative Music Studio. Founded in 1971 by Karl Berger, Ingrid Sertso and Ornette Coleman, the Woodstock-based CMS facilitates music innovation through workshops, master classes and performances, and provides opportunities for musicians to interact with the most important figures of improvisation and musical thought. Tune in to listen to the highlights of CMS’s archive of rare recordings, now held at Columbia University Music Library. Joining Kat Whatley will be Steven Bernstein and Peter Apfelbaum, who having first come to CMS as teenagers, now teach CMS Workshops.
