A prolific composer and influential trombonist in both the traditional and avant-garde areas of jazz, Grachan Moncur III has been making music for over half a century. Since 1959, Moncur has played with Ray Charles, Art Farmer, Benny Golson, Sonny Rollins, Jackie McLean, Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter, and Herbie Hancock as well as Archie Shepp, Marion Brown, Roswell Rudd, and Beaver Harris.
