This week on the Musician's Show, we are joined by pianist Fabian Almazan. As our guest host for the evening, he will take us through his career in music, sharing his own recordings in addition to the music of his influences and contemporaries. Almazan has studied with Mark Levine and performed with Dave Brubeck and Christian McBride as piano chair for the Brubeck Institute fellowship program, and has also studied with Kenny Barron at the Manhattan School of Music. He was the recipient of the Cintas Foundation 2010/11 Brandon Fradd Award in Music Composition, an award granted to Cuban artists who have helped to develop the Cuban cultural heritage. He has performed with many notable musicans and recorded two albums, Personalities and Rhizome. Tune in from 6:00 to 9:00 PM to hear his musical selections and to hear him share his own story.
