The first half of today's program is dedicated to one of the most important Colombian music festivals- el Festival de Música Andina Colombiana Mono Nuñez. Held annually during the last fews days in May through the beginning of June in Ginebra, Valle del Cauca, el Festival Mono Nuñez features the best of classic and modern Colombian Andean music, including bambuco, vals, mazurca, redova, pasillo, danza, chotis, guabina, rumba carranguera, sanjuanero, and more. This year's 40th version will honor bandola player Diego Estrada Montoya, who was a member of the musical group- Trío Morales Pino. Participants compete for awards in best vocalist, best group, best trio, and best duo category.
We also included the song El Líder from Diomedes Díaz- to give support to Colombian cyclist Nairo Quintana- who recently won stage 19 in Giro D'Italia!
