Tune in to Afternoon New Music today at 3:00 pm for an exclusive interview with Petr Kotik, Alvin Lucier, and Eli Greenhoe about the S.E.M. Ensemble's upcoming concert this Saturday at 8:00 pm. The program will feature a 40-minute interview and recordings from the composers, including Alvin Lucier's chamber work, Orpheus Variations.

The S.E.M. Ensemble, led by conductor, composer, and flutist Petr Kotik, will be performing at the Paula Cooper Gallery on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 8:00 pm. The concert will include the U.S. premier of Alvin Lucier's chamber work, Orpheus Variations, as well as compositions by Iannis Xenakis, Eli Greenhoe, Pavel Jan Vejvanovský, Lisa Hirsch, and Petr Kotik.

Hailed by The New York Times as “the best of what is left of the experimental tradition,” S.E.M. Ensemble was founded in 1970 when Petr Kotik gathered a group of musicians from the fellows at the Center of the Creative and Performing Arts, SUNY/Buffalo. Since then, S.E.M. Ensemble has established itself as one of the most distinguished ensembles for new music in the U.S., maintaining a continuous schedule of concerts in New York, touring annually in Europe, and also performing in South America and Japan.
