Join us this Monday, from 3-9pm, as we celebrate the music of Kalaparusha Maurice McIntyre. Born on March 24th, 1936, Kalaparusha began playing woodwinds with the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians in Chicago, which included Roscoe Mitchell and Muhal Richard Abrams among many other Free Jazz greats. He moved to New York during the 1970's and was a major force on the growing loft scene while continuing to play with his colleagues from the AACM. He continued to play his music right up until the end of his life. WKCR will devote all programming from 3pm to 9pm to his music, and be sure to stay tuned for future tributes to his continuing legacy.
