Tune in to Afternoon New Music today, May 22 at 3:00 PM EST for what is sure to be an enlightening discussion with Lukács/Göz/Kurtág Jr. Trio, a Hungarian experimental music group, and Szabolcs Kerestes, an artist working with the Budapest-based Binaura Collective to provide opto-acoustic visuals for the Trio’s performance at Le Poisson Rouge today. The Trio features cimbalom (Lukács), trombone (Gőz), and electronics (Kurtág Jr.). Fresh from their performance at LACMA last Saturday, the Trio, inspired by the rich Hungarian electronic classical music scene during the decades of state socialism, and Kerestes will discuss not only their particular artistic fields of expertise, but also the historical and current role of the avant-garde.
