Internship in Building Community (IBC) IBC affords students the opportunity to participate in an extended program devoted to developing the interpersonal skills necessary to build communities. There is a two-week Seminar led by professionals in the field of community building and a four-week Practicum where students serve as resident advisors and program assistants for Columbia’s Summer Program for High School Students and are responsible for creating a cohesive, lively, respectful student body. Interns receive a stipend of $1,000 paid in two installments (mid-program and conclusion).
Eligibility:
Applicants must be registered undergraduate or graduate students for the fall semester. Only those students who evince a strong interest in and capacity for community building are accepted. Students interested in pursuing careers in teaching, social work, business, and other fields that call for effective educators, managers, and supervisors are encouraged to apply. International students must be eligible for employment in the US.
