The December 2024 Issue
Dear Listeners,
Please accept our apologies for the lateness of this guide—our sole On Air editor has been out sick for the past several days, which combined with the start of finals season has conspired to delay this issue's arrival in your inbox. But we hope the issue bears enough to warrant your forgiveness: the issue opens with a sprawling piece by Ale Díaz-Pizarro, who recently took a dive into the electronic music forebear Vladimir Ussachevsky's personal papers to yield a reflection on classical music & early electronics, which we hope will get you excited for Bachfest (how? You'll just have to read it and see!). The rest of the issue is just as enticing: Ben Erdmann reviews a new sound art installation, Caroline Nieto celebrates 30 years of Elliott Smith's Roman Candle, Eamon Costello reflects on jungle music, and the WKCR board offers a sneak peek at their holiday wishlist. The issue is also beautifully interspersed with original illustrations from WKCR members, in full display of an in-house talent that goes beyond the auditory. And last—and most excitingly!—the issue features the inaugural WKCRossword by Station Manager and crossword aficionado Ted Schmiedeler, which you can find attached to this email for your solving pleasure (answers forthcoming in January's issue!).
