Marie is being recognized for her commitment to advocacy for first-generation and low-income students on Columbia's campus. Marie has been a student advocate for four years, leading the largest student-run advocacy group supporting FGLI students, FLI Network, as co-president. She is also a part of the First-Generation Advisory Board under Multiculutral Affairs.. Marie has worked on providing winter coats to students in need, establishing the first-ever FLI formal, and working on a proposal for a FLI student center.
