Josephine is a junior in SEAS studying Biomedical Engineering. Through the BME department she is a member of Gordana Vunjak-Novakovic's Stem Cell and Tissue Engineering lab on campus. As a part of this lab she is using cardiac tissue models to better understand genetic causes of heart failure. Outside of class Josephine is a passionate member of Columbia's chapter of Engineers Without Borders. Having joined freshman year by helping with the fundraising for a solar grid in Uganda, she is now a project manager of the club's efforts in Ghana. Josephine is now helping to lead the electrification of a community in conjunction with local government partners. After graduation Josephine plans to continue pursuing opportunities in the biotech space to increase the accessibility of new technologies from the lab to the patient.
Thank you to all of my friends and family for the support over the years! I am so grateful to be a part of this community!
