Joachim is a senior at Columbia studying Economics-Statistics. He has exemplified ethical decision-making and sound moral judgement through his current and previous involvements in Columbia UNICEF and the Columbia Economics Department. As the former Treasurer of Columbia UNICEF, Joachim managed funds and directed the club's resources towards impactful initiatives, such as non-profit networking events and fundraising for UNICEF USA. Currently, his research with Professor Daniel Björkegren explores how artificial intelligence and large language models can be ethically used in classrooms to bridge the inequality gap in developing countries.
With his interest in pursuing a PhD in Economics, Joachim is passionate about conducting ethical research with meaningful social impact. Ultimately, he hopes to inspire others to adopt an ethical, yet rigorous approach to solve the challenging problems of today.
Thank you to my family and friends for their unconditional support! I wouldn't be where I am today without all of you.
