Alisha is a senior at Columbia College studying Human Rights with a specialization in Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies. As the Director-General of Columbia Model United Nations Conference and Exposition XXIII and as a Coordinator for Columbia Multicultural Affairs’ Global Ambassador Program, she led discussions surrounding diplomacy and social justice. Her work as a Laidlaw Scholar and a Research Assistant for the Political Science and Human Rights departments has allowed her to explore several key human rights issues, including the partisan polarization of social identities, post-9/11 perceptions of citizenship, and the vital role of a free press. Alisha has also supported the rights of women, children, and refugees as a volunteer with World Vision Ghana, an intern for Human Rights First, and as an assistant for Columbia Law School’s Human Rights Institute. Her work demonstrates her commitment to and advocacy for human rights across various sectors.
