Leonard A. Pullman Memorial Prize
Angel is a graduating senior majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior. She is being celebrated for her outstanding commitment to her community. Serving as a Tour Captain for the Undergraduate Recruitment Committee, you can find her leading weekly campus tours for prospective students. Beyond sharing her enthusiasm for Columbia on her tours, she is also fervently dedicated to advancing health education and enhancing accessibility. She is on the executive board for the Columbia Medical Review, a student publication striving to make medical knowledge more accessible to the public. Additionally, she is a part of Students for Health Education, Access, and Literacy (S-HEAL), teaching high school students a comprehensive health curriculum consisting of standardized health workshops on topics ranging from decision-making and sexual health to substance abuse and nutrition. Her work continues at Columbia University Medical Center, where she serves as a health coach at the Columbia Student Medical Outreach (CoSMO) clinic. In the clinic, she works with type 2 diabetic patients in managing their diabetes through discussions on nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle. She is also involved in clinical research at the Perinatal Pathways Lab, where she is assisting on projects exploring the effects of stress on pregnant women of color and strategies to prevent postpartum depression. In her free time, you can find her exploring the NYC food scene, indulging in fiction and autobiographical novels, or running in Central Park. Angel's multifaceted contributions during her time at Columbia exemplify her dedication to making a difference in her community and beyond.
