Housing and Residential Life work together to enhance the student experience and build community.
Undergraduate Housing
Housing is provided for approximately 5,600 undergraduate students. 94% of all undergraduates and 99% of all first-year students live in residence halls during the academic year. Housing also provides summer, conference, and guest accommodations.
Residential Life
Residential Life fosters safe and inclusive living and learning environments beyond the classroom to holistically develop responsible global citizens.
In addition to our various robust residential communities, upperclass students may also apply to live in a particular Special Interest Community (SIC). SICs create opportunities for students to live and learn among students with common identities or interests. SIC members work closely with their community leaders and Residential Life staff to cultivate a vibrant residential community.
Columbia is also home to a vibrant fraternity and sorority community.
