Prior to fall enrollment, entering first-year program participants attend a mandatory five-week Summer Bridge Program offered through Academic Success Programs. Participants take courses in Calculus, Statistics, University Writing, Literature Humanities, Physics, Psychology, and Chemistry to prepare for the academic work required of Columbia students. The program begins on Monday, July 8 and ends on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.

Help Room Tutor
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate evening Help Room tutoring sessions for incoming first-year students participating in summer program (one tutor per subject area)
- Provide feedback to students, and participate in students’ overall evaluation
- Participate in weekly staff meetings
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- Current full-time upper division undergraduate or graduate Columbia students proficient, grade of “B” or higher, in at least one of the courses offered during the Summer Bridge Program
- Must be able to work effectively with a group of highly motivated students who will enter Columbia College and Columbia Engineering in Fall 2018
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience preferred
- Experience working with diverse communities
Requirements:
- Tutor assignment begins on Monday, July 8 and ends on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.
- Candidate must be available to participate in the Tutor Orientation prior to the Summer Bridge Program (date of training: Tuesday, July 2 at 5:00 p.m.)
- A list of references must be provided prior to interview
Compensation: All positions are part-time (10-12 hours per week). Tutors are paid an hourly rate and are asked to work evenings and the occasional weekend.
