Lamiya Rahman is a senior at Columbia College majoring in Biology on the pre-med track. She is passionate about education equity, teaching, and learning about advancements in medicine. During her time at Columbia, Lamiya participated in multiple opportunities to teach and mentor students of different backgrounds. As the student engagement coordinator for Freedom and Citizenship, Lamiya assisted high school students from underserved backgrounds apply for higher education. Lamiya has also served as a mentor to support incoming freshmen with the Columbia Mentoring Initiative, and she loves helping students in her TA position for Contemporary Biology Lab. During her free time, Lamiya enjoys volunteering at the hospital and interacting with patients while learning more about the role of a physician. Lamiya looks forward to using the knowledge she gained from her experiences at Columbia to make a profound impact.
I would like to thank my family, friends, mentors, and professors for always being there for me and encouraging me to do my best. I have received immense support and guidance while making amazing memories throughout college.
