Award Recognition

Civic Responsibility
Senior Marshal
Josh is a graduating senior at Columbia College studying biology. He is being recognized for promoting civic responsibility and engagement through student-led initiatives at Columbia. As the Executive Director and Secretary-General of the 23rd annual Columbia Model United Nations Conference and Exposition, Josh led his Secretariat to host over 1,000 high school students from around the world for a four-day simulation of the United Nations on Columbia’s Morningside Heights campus. Josh also served as the President of the Columbia Science Review, an undergraduate publication that also holds events bridging the gap between scientific advancement and daily life, including Columbia’s first-ever sustainable fashion show. Additionally, with the Stockwell Lab in Columbia’s Department of Biological Sciences, Josh researched the effects of dietary factors and metabolites on anticancer therapeutics. In these spaces, Josh worked with his peers to advance local and global engagement within science, healthcare, and politics.
I am truly honored to receive these awards. Thank you to my family and friends for their unwavering support and compassion. Thank you to my mentors, professors, and peers who have inspired and challenged me throughout my Columbia journey.
